Photo series: Snow globes

Every year, thousands leave their home behind to study in the U.K., but according to a recent survey by HSBC two in five international students end up feeling homesick at least once a week or more.

Luckily there are different ways to cope with homesickness, like surrounding oneself with meaningful objects from home. They act as personalized snow globes: Each object being a window to a familiar time and place.

“Before I left for London, I had dinner with my best friends and they gave me this bracelet. The bigger circle is supposed to represent me and they're the tiny one connected to it.”

“Now I wear it every day because it reminds me of them. They’re my everything.”

“This Chanel-style purse was given to my grandmother by her friend who used to sew purses for big brands. My grandma had it for a long time before giving it to my mother who later gave it to me.”

“I love it because it reminds me of home.”
